Indian stock market touched new high on Thursday morning but could not retain its early gain. Negative global cues and profit booking at higher levels are the reason for the fall in yesterday’s trading session. The Sensex and Nifty were down almost 0.30 percent and closed at 39140.28 and 11752.80 points respectively. Bank Nifty slips almost 1 percent and closed at 30223.40 points at the close. All points are on spot level basis.
On a weekly basis Sensex, Nifty and Bank Nifty all gained almost 0.95 percent. Whereas Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 could not retain its gain both were down at 0.50 percent and 0.90 percent during the week. Indian Currency also lost 0.18 points against USD during the week.

On Sectoral front, PSU banks, metal, engineering, real estate, telecom were the major losers during the week. On the stock front, Reliance and Jet Airways were in news in this week. Reliance retail in talks to buy Hamleys a 295-year-old toymaker company. Hamleys which reported losses in 2017, has struggled to generate profits recently.
The aviation company Jet Airways had suspended operations on 17th April, as banks refused to give interim funding to make it operational. The Jet Airways share price plunged 32 percent on yesterday's trading session after the announcement.

On Monday the Indian stock market will open as per global cues and may see some up moves in RIL. A further rise in crude price can depreciate rupee against the dollar, which is negative for the market.
